Josh McDaniels is joining Vrabel’s coaching staff as New England’s offensive coordinator, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. A six-time Super Bowl champion as an assistant coach, McDaniels is best known as Bill Belichick’s longtime offensive playcaller.
This marks Vrabel’s first big hire as head coach of the Patriots. The team also interviewed Thomas Brown, Marcus Brady and Grant Udinski for their offensive coordinator job, according to sources.
McDaniels served as Tom Brady’s quarterback coach during record-breaking seasons and shepherded Mac Jones to a Pro Bowl berth as a rookie. Now, he’ll be tasked with elevating Drake Maye’s game to the next level.
