The Denver Broncos are signing former Giants/Jaguars tight end Evan Engram to a two-year deal according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

The Jags parted ways with Engram last week to free up just under $6 million in cap space. The veteran tight end was coming off a down season marred by injuries and Jacksonville had Brenton Strange waiting in the wings. Despite the disappointing end to his Jaguars tenure, Engram had multiple suitors in free agency including the Broncos and Chargers.

He now heads to Denver where Sean Payton has been yearning to find a player to fill his joker role ever since he signed on with the team. Engram is in line for plenty of short-area targets and screens as a potential YAC creator for Bo Nix. If he can earn enough volume, Engram should stick at the back of the TE1 ranks for at least one more year.
