The Chicago Bears are bringing back one of their core special teams players for the 2025 season, Brendan Sugrue of Bears Wire reports. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bears are re-signing running back Travis Homer. It's a one-year deal worth $2 million.
The Bears signed Homer to a two-year deal during the 2023 offseason after spending his first four years in the league with the Seattle Seahawks. While he has served as a backup running back, Homer's primary contributions have come on special teams. The 26-year-old totaled 6 tackles in 2024 in 10 games, missing some time due to a finger and hamstring injury.
Homer is the latest special teams contributor to re-sign or get extended in recent weeks. The Bears brought back cornerback Josh Blackwell and extended linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga earlier in the month, giving special teams coordinator Richard Hightower some familiar faces for the 2025 season.
