Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters revealed Monday that the team has begun contract negotiations with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, Liam Fox of theScore reports.

"We want to make Terry a Commander for a long time," Peters said on "Up & Adams."

He added: "We've had some really good conversations with his representatives. We're going to keep those in-house."

McLaurin is entering the final season of a three-year, $69.6-million extension he signed in 2022. He's set to cost Washington $25.5 million against the salary cap in 2025.

The 29-year-old has spent all six of his NFL seasons with Washington after the franchise selected him in the third round in 2019. McLaurin made his first career All-Pro team in 2024 after finishing the campaign with 82 receptions, 1,096 receiving yards, and a career-high 13 touchdowns - nearly double his previous personal best.

He was Rookie of the Year quarterback Jayden Daniels' top target as the Commanders made the playoffs for the first time since 2020 and advanced to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1992.

McLaurin is a two-time Pro Bowler and has been a steady force in a Washington offense that had cycled through several quarterbacks before drafting Daniels. McLaurin has finished with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards only once in his career, when he had 919 as a rookie.
