The Cowboys plan to pick up the fifth-year option on offensive guard Tyler Smith according to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.
Smith is a two-time Pro Bowler who is the unquestioned leader of the Cowboys’ offensive line following the retirement of Zack Martin and Tyron Smith. Smith is one of a handful of players the Cowboys need to sign to a long-term extension in the near future, but it’s unlikely he’ll get a deal done before Micah Parsons. He’ll be under contract through the 2026 season, meaning there’s no rush to ink him to a deal as long as he doesn’t threaten a hold out.
