Mark Andrews has heard the chatter about a potential trade out of Baltimore, but the Ravens tight end is only focused on what he can control, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
"At the end of the day, I think [GM Eric DeCosta] said it perfectly: He's in the business of keeping great players and it's a business at the end of the day," Andrews said this week, via ESPN.com. "You can't be surprised by anything, but I'm a Raven."
Last week, DeCosta noted that while he isn't in the business of jettisoning good players, "you just never know."
The 29-year-old tight end remains a productive piece of the Ravens offense, finishing third on the club with 673 yards in 2024 while gobbling up 11 touchdowns.
Andrews, who Baltimore selected in the third round of the 2018 draft, is set to count $16.9 million against the salary cap in 2025. But with zero guaranteed money left on his contract, the Ravens could save $11 million in cap space by trading or cutting the veteran. Releases for cap purposes generally happen by now in the offseason, but another club could call with a trade offer.
"I know the Ravens and my relationship is incredibly strong, and I trust in [DeCosta] and everybody there over at the Ravens," Andrews said. "And there's nothing on my end really to share. For me, it's just been working hard this offseason and trying to get in the best shape of my life, trying to have the best season of my life coming up and winning a Super Bowl."
The tight end told reporters this week that on the play before the uncharacteristic drop, he'd run into fellow tight end Isaiah Likely on the touchdown pass and fell into the snowy turf, soaking his gloves. Andrews said he didn't know whether he should have removed or left them on but acknowledged he "still should have caught the ball."
"That's sports, man. Things happen," Andrews said. "I know the type of player that I am, what I can do, and it is what it is. It was tough, wasn't the best game and I'm looking forward to redemption."
