The Browns have locked up arguably the biggest name among their rookie draft class — even if he wasn't the first player taken in that class, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Jounal reports.
Cleveland announced Monday afternoon, May 19, it had signed fifth-round draft pick Shedeur Sanders to his rookie contract. The quarterback out of the University of Colorado was taken with the No. 144 pick overall after the Browns traded up on the third day of the NFL draft in April.
The deal, which is the standard rookie contract, will pay him about $4.6 million over four seasons. It includes a $447,380 signing bonus.
Sanders becomes the fourth draft pick out of seven to sign, joining second-round pick Carson Schwesinger, third-round pick Harold Fannin Jr. and fourth-round pick Dylan Sampson. Still unsigned are first-round pick Mason Graham, second-round pick Quinshon Judkins and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.
