The Steelers may need to relinquish some play-calling control to Aaron Rodgers in 2025, Andrew Vasquez of Steelers Wire reports. This according to some speculation from long-time sports writer Mark Kaboly.
On his podcast with Chris Mack, Kaboly dropped the rumor when discussing what the Steelers' playbook could mean to Rodgers:
"Here's the thing with the playbook — do you think the playbook matters to Aaron Rodgers? 'Cause I really do believe that it's going to be Aaron Rodgers' playbook. He's going to call what he wants to call — and that's going to be a little bit of a battle."
Kaboly would agree that the four-time MVP couldn't be completely dismissive of Steelers OC Arthur Smith — but Rodgers also wouldn't tolerate the same treatment that was given to ex-Steelers QB Russell Wilson:
"I think — put it this way — you know with [Kenny Pickett], and even [Russell Wilson] to a degree last year of not being able to change the plays, that's not going to fly here with [Rodgers]."
