The Texans have released veteran defensive end Mario Addison according to Aaron Wilson of KPCR2 in Houston.
Wilson adds that it is purely a cap maneuver and Addison could return to Houston on a new deal. The veteran signed a two-year, $7.7 million contract with the Texans a year ago but his release now saves the team $3.4 million against the cap. Addison only notched one sack in 12 games but is a solid veteran to have for a team that will be loaded with young players in 2023.
Originally a free agent out of Troy, the 35-year-old Addison has 68 career sacks.
