In yet another development in the Arizona Cardinals offseason from hell, All-Pro safety Budda Baker scrubbed all references to the Cardinals from his social media profiles and posted a cryptic message on Twitter amidst rumors that he wants out of Arizona according to Seth Cox of Revenge of the Birds.com.

What Baker probably really wants is a contract extension and a raise.  He reportedly approached new GM Monti Ossenfort about the subject and, given today's activities, it sounds like that conversation did not go well.  Baker has two years left on the contract he signed in 2020 and is scheduled to make $12.1 million in 2023.

In 2022, Baker managed a 73.7 PFF grade. He made 110 tackles, one forced fumble, and two picks. The 27-year-old is widely considered one of the NFL’s top hybrid safeties and has attended 5 Pro Bowls and was named to the First-Team All-Pro twice.  He is one of the franchise keystones in the desert and is also the heart and soul of the Cardinals.

It is hard to believe the Cardinals would really trade Baker but stranger things have happened.  Wideout DeAndre Hopkins has been on the trade block for months and it is clear the team is embarking on a massive rebuild.  Baker and quarterback Kyler Murray were assumed to be the only untouchable players on the roster but that may change.
