In the wake of the of the season-ending neck injury to left guard Nick Easton, the Minnesota Vikings reportedly put in a call to retired offensive guard Joe Berger according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Unfortunately, the 36-year-old Berger is opting to stay retired.  Berger spent 13 seasons in the NFL, the last seven of them in Minnesota, before deciding to hang up his cleats this March.  He made 68 of his 88 career starts for the Vikings and was Pro Football Focus's No.23-ranked guard in 2017.  Berger is versatile enough to play anywhere along the interior line so it is no surprise he was the first call the team made to try to shore up their thin O-line corps.  The Vikings will undoubtedly be making a lot of these kinds of calls in the next week but it does not look like Berger will be suiting up again.
