Wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been "locked to the second unit" throughout Oakland Raiders training camp according to Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area.

After being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Raiders in exchange for a third-round draft pick this offseason, the 26-year-old Bryant has drawn criticism early in camp while struggling with Jon Gruden's complicated playbook.  He showed what he could do in Wednesday's 11-on11 practice, however, impressing with a pair of long touchdowns and a big gain off a tipped pass. "Martavis is not a good talent, he’s a great talent," said Gruden, who had previously been critical of Bryant's performance. "Today showed I think what he’s capable of doing. We have big plans for him."  Those big plans will still likely keep him a distant third in targets behind starting wideouts Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson.  There is also still concern about Bryant's status for the upcoming season.  There have been persisent rumors Bryant is facing another suspension from the league office after missing the entire 2016 season for violating the NFL's substance policy.  It should be noted, however, that neither Bryant or the Raiders have been contact by the league yet and it is assumed at this point that Bryant will be available Week 1.
