The Detroit Lions placed second-year linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin on injured reserve on Wednesday because of a recurring neck injury that has kept him out of three of the last five games, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Reeves-Maybin played 20 snaps on special teams and four on defense in Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

He hurt his neck in a late-October loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and missed games the next two weeks against the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears and again against the Bears on Thanksgiving.

A fourth-round pick out of Tennessee in 2017, Reeves-Maybin has played a minor role on defense this season as Jarrad Davis, Devon Kennard and Christian Jones have taken the majority of snaps at linebacker.
