The Philadelphia Eagles have conversted $7.195 million of tight end Zach Ertz's contract into a bonus according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The move creates $5.756 million in needed cap space in 2019.  The 28-year-old Ertz, originally a second-round pick out of Stanford in 2013, has developed into one of the best tight ends in the NFL and is clearly quarterback Carson Wentz's favorite receiver.  His 116 catches in 2018 were the most by a tight end in NFL history and were second in the NFL for all receivers behind wideout Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints.

Ertz also had his first 1,000-yard season in 2018 with 1,163 yards and was voted to his second Pro Bowl.
