Raiders cornerback Gareon Conley was carted off the field during the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the Broncos after accidentally getting hit by a teammate.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden said after a 24-16 win over the Denver Broncos he believed Conley wasn’t seriously injured, Jon Becker of Bayareanewsgroup reports.

“I got good word on him that he’s going to be OK. I don’t know his status for the next game, but most importantly the kid is alright,” Gruden said. “That was a scary hit that he took, but all the reports that I have are very, very positive.”

The third-year defender apparently injured his neck in the third quarter while trying to tackle Denver’s Royce Freeman near his own sideline. Conley hit the turf hard while tackling Freeman, but rookie safety Johnathan Abram inadvertently hit him in the head with his thigh.

Conley lay motionless on the turf and was strapped to a stretcher and loaded onto a cart for precautionary measures with 5:06 left in the third quarter.
