Impending free agent defensive end Everson Griffen says he wants to be a Minnesota Viking "for life" according to Ben Goessling the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The 32-year-old Griffen feels he can be producive for thre-to-four more years and  hopes to spend what's left of his career with the team that drafted him 100th overall in 2010. "I want to be here," said the three-time Pro Bowler. "I love this team. I love this organization. They took great care of me when I needed it the most."  Griffen's loyalty is understandable, as the team and head coach Mike Zimmer stood by him during a difficult 2018 season which saw him struggle with mental health issues and other off-the-field struggles and limited him to 11 games.

Griffen bounced back in impressive fashion in 2019, finishing with eight sacks and one interception while garnering PFF's No. 6 pass-rushing grade among 4-3 defensive ends.  And he was absolutely dominant in the Vikings' Wild Card round upset of the New Orleans Saints.  The Vikings undoubtedly want him back but may struggle to make that happen, even though it sounds like Griffen would be willing to give them a hometown discount.  Minnota currently has less cap space than any other team in the NFL and will have to make some tough financial decisions this offseason.
