The Jets and the rest of the NFL are waiting on quarterback Aaron Rodgers to decide if he’ll play in 2023. And with the start of free agency less than 48 hours away, Rodgers finally emerged in public Saturday and hinted strongly that a decision is imminent, Andy Vasquez of NJ Advance Media reports.

“Stay tuned, stay tuned,” Rodgers told former Jets receiver Brandon Marshall at the RX Flag Football Charity event in Laguna Beach, Calif., in a video posted early Sunday morning. Marshall then asked what every Jets fan has been wondering for the last couple of weeks.

“How long we gotta wait?”

“Well, I think it won’t be long,” Rodgers said. “There’s a time limit for all of this.”

Rodgers seemed to be hinting at the start of NFL free agency. The negotiating window opens at noon Monday with free agents able to officially sign with new teams starting Wednesday at the start of the new league year.

Rodgers isn’t a free agent, of course. But it’s clear that his time in Green Bay is coming to an end, one way or the other. Packers president Mark Murphy said Friday that the organization’s preference is to move forward with young quarterback Jordan Love in 2023, not Rodgers. Murphy also confirmed that the Packers granted Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets about joining them via a trade.
