The Browns have no interest in re-signing running back Kareem Hunt as they believe his speed is slipping according to Terry Pluto of cleveland.com.

And it seems the rest of the NFL is in agreement as there has been very little interest in him in free agency.  Last year Hunt averaged a career-low 3.8 yards per carry and a career-low 6.0 yards per catch, so the numbers would seem to confirm the sense that Hunt doesn’t have the big-play speed he had earlier in his career.

Hunt is still only 27 years old but running backs don't age well.  He joins a list of veteran free agent running backs like  Jerick McKinnonEzekiel Elliott, Leonard Fournette, J.D. McKissic, and Mark Ingram who are still on the market and generating little buzz.  Most of them-including Hunt-will likely sign one-year deals to continue their careers but for much less money than they are used to making.  NFL teams are increasingly concluding that they can get just as much production from young running backs on cheap contracts as they can from veteran free agents.
