Dominic Raiola has agreed to restructure the final year of his contract and should return to the Detroit Lions in 2013, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports citing a person familiar with the decision.

The person did not wish to be identified, because the deal is not yet official.

Raiola, entering his 12th season, was set to count $6.1 million against the salary cap before his restructuring. It was not immediately known what his cap number will be under terms of the new deal, and Raiola did not return a phine call seeking comment.

The Lions cut three veterans this month -- defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch, right guard Stephen Peterman and receiver Titus Young -- and were looking for other ways to save money.

Receiver Nate Burleson has said he’s willing to take less money to stay in Detroit, and the Lions are in the beginning stages of working out a new, long-term contract with quarterback Matthew Stafford.
