Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn said Friday that the team is still deciding whether to pick up the fifth-year option on tight end Eric Ebron for 2018 according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
"It’s a possibility," Quinn said. "We’re still in the process of evaluating Eric’s situation. We have until May 2, so we’ll use our time." Quinn said what the Lions do in the draft could alter their plans for Ebron's future. There have been stories from beat writers about the potential for Detroit to start overhauling its tight end room this year, though Quinn has also openly said he is willing to talk extension with Ebron. Ebron has incrementally gotten better each year he's been in the NFL since being chosen as the 10th-overall selection in the 2014 draft out of North Carolina but has yet to play a full 16-game season or post a 1,000-yard season.
