With Dustin Colquitt going on the reserve COVID-19 list Monday, the Falcons signed veteran punter Thomas Morstead on Tuesday, D Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The team wanted a veteran punter and picked Morstead, who was recently released by the Jets. The Falcons also signed punter Dom Maggio to the practice squad.

Morstead, 35, punted for the Saints for 2009-20. He punted for the Jets in seven games this season. He averaged 48.2 gross yards on 23 punts for the Jets this season.

The Falcons are hoping that Colquitt can make it through the NFL COVID-19 protocols in time to punt on Sunday against the Jaguars. Morstead, who went to the Pro Bowl after the 2012 season, will be ready if Colquitt is not available.
