In the wake of Rashawn Slater's season-ending injury, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley named sixth-round rookie Jamaree Salyer the starting left tackle according to the team's official website.

Staley opted for the unknown over the known after veteran Storm Norton got destroyed by Jaguars defensders last Sunday as Slater's in-game replacement.  "We’re making a change to put the best five guys that we feel like give us a chance," Staley said.  Salyer played all five offensive line positions in his four seasons at the University of Georgia and started two seasons at left tackle but he was projected to move inside to guard at the pro level.

Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert was already dealing with painful fractured rib cartilage and it now looks like his blind side protection could be an issue for the rest of the season.
