New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is "still operating as if he has a chance" to start Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers according to Mike Giardi of NFL Network.
Per Giardi, Jones is "in the facility and participating in game planning. " while telling "multiple teammates to not count him out of this weekend's game." It's good that Jones is a gamer who wants to be out there with his teammates and Bill Belichick is the master of misdirection but we would be shocked to see Jones on a playing field anytime soon after he had to be carried down the stairs to the locker room at the end of the Week 3 loss to the Steelers. High-ankle sprains are multi-week injuries no matter how much Jones want to play.
That said, anything that would possibly keep Brian Hoyer off a regular season playing field would be a good thing. We fully expect to see a DNP by Jones' name on the official practice report later today and Hoyer will be under center in Green Bay this Sunday.
