49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that he'll be "very surprised" if Jimmy Garappolo can play in the NFC Championship game according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.

Garoppolo will have an X-Ray on his foot tomorrow to see how things are healing. It's possible that he could play in the Super Bowl if the 49ers advance, though it would be hard to understand why the 49ers would turn to Garoppolo cold when Brock Purdy has played as well as he has down the stretch.   Jimmy G would likely suit up only as the backup.
