Quarterback A,J. McCarron has returned to the team that originally drafted him according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Cincinnati has signed McCarron to its practice squad after a tryout on Saturday.  The Bengals drafted McCarron back in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. He started three games for the franchise in 2015, compiling a 2-1 record.  The 33-year-old also spent time with the Bills, Raiders, Texans, and Falcons.  McCarron has not played in the NFL since suffering a torn ACL in a preseason game in 2021.  In 17 career NFL appearances with four starts, McCarron has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,173 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Earlier this year McCarron played with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL.  In nine starts, he led the league in touchdown passes (24) and finished second in passing yards with 2,150.
