Earlier this month, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that the league was "looking into" potential tampering violations committed by the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles prior to the start of free agency.

Roughly two weeks later, this Tuesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell provided the football world with an update, Cameron Fleming of Athlon Sports reports.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport: "NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was 'hard at work at it immediately,' when asked about the tampering investigation into the Falcons and Eagles."

Specifically, the NFL is looking into the Falcons and Eagles' offseason acquisitions of free agents Kirk Cousins and Saquon Barkley, respectively.

Cousins, who signed with the Falcons at the start of the new league year, admitted to being contacted by tight end Kyle Pitts weeks before free agency began. That's not a violation itself, but Cousins did also suggest he had direct contact with a Falcons' trainer before the start of the new league year - which is a potential violation.

As for the Eagles, the league's review of the Barkley signing appears to stem from comments made by his former college coach, Penn State's James Franklin. Franklin reportedly suggested that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman directly spoke to Barkley before the new league year - a method of communication not permitted during the legal tampering period.
