Veteran free agent defensive end Dawuane Smoot visited the Texans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston reports.  This according to a league source.

Although Smoot wasn’t immediately signed one day before the start of the NFL draft, his meeting was positive and this could be revisited post-draft, per sources.

A former Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft pick from Illinois, Smoot played last season under a one-year deal.

He recorded 10 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 12 games.

Smoot has has played in 99 career games with 17 starts and has recorded 133 tackles, 23 1./2 sacks, 27 tackles for losses, 64 quarterback hits and two fumble recoveries.
