Daniel Jones may soon have a new veteran quarterback breathing down his neck, Darryn Albert of Larry Brown Sports reports.

The Giants are working out CJ Beathard this week according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The 30-year-old Beathard remains a free agent after getting released by the Jacksonville Jaguars last month.

An ex-third-round pick in 2017 (No. 104 overall), Beathard began his career as a spot starter for the San Francisco 49ers and then transitioned into full-time backup by his third NFL season. Beathard spent the last three years with the Jaguars as the backup to Trevor Lawrence before being released.
