The Carolina Panthers have finally released veteran running back Miles Sanders after two seasons according to the team's official website.

Sanders signed with the Panthers as a free agent after playing out his rookie contract with the Eagles. He landed a four-year, $25.4 million deal in Carolina. The move proved to be a mistake almost instantly. Sanders started five games for the Panthers before being benched for Chuba Hubbard. He remained stuck in the backup role for most of his second season in Charlotte.

His Panthers tenure comes to an end with 184 carries for 637 yards and three scores. A former thousand-yard runner, Sanders should have some interest in free agency, though he will likely be stuck taking a prove-it deal after his disastrous Panthers contract.
