After evaluating their running backs through nearly two weeks of OTAs, the Broncos decided to bring in veteran power back J.K. Dobbins for an extensive visit, Mike Klis of 9 News reports.
Dobbins was to visit the Broncos Wednesday night and Thursday, a source confirmed to 9NEWS.
Audric Estime has to be paying attention. Estime was the Broncos' fifth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame last year as a 227-pound straight ahead back.
Dobbins is a 216-pound power back from Ohio State who was a second-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2020. After a fine rookie season in which he rushed for 805 yards off just 134 carries as he split carries with Gus Edwards, Dobbins became beset by devastating injuries.
He suffered a torn ACL in a preseason game of his second season in 2021 and a torn Achilles in the 2023 regular season-opener.
He rebounded nicely with the Los Angeles Chargers last year, rushing for 905 yards and 9 touchdowns in just 13 games. In a week 6 game in mid-October at Empower Field at Mile High, Dobbins rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 23-16 win.
Dobbins, 26, missed four games late last season because of a MCL sprain although he did return for the final two games of the regular season and a playoff loss at Houston.
