Blinkscout Game in London, Jags game 7 (3 replies)

On a bye week Im likely to update college ball going over the weekend, as things are starting to shape up and solidify there …

Another note … people everywhere are being more aggro than normal. Little grace and extra courtesy could help everyone.

Of course a blowout is fun, but there are still a few things to dig into …

The Great

1) McVay keeping the boys hungry.

2) Byron Young, that’s 8.5 right?

3) Davante in the end zone.

4) Ferguson’s leaving his coverage in the dust. Having a threat like that is something we’ve been missing. Can’t afford to keep him on the bench any longer. We can split him out and run 12s often.

5) McClendon holding down ORT, and looking like he’s the dude next year.

6) 3 4th down stops in the first half. Yo.

The Good

7) We kept the pressure on them in the second half. Miscues on offense are why we didn’t score for a few drives, not playcalling.

8) Fiske looks healthy finally.

9) TE usage, did all 4 have a catch?

10) Kinchens is both ball hawk (though dropsies this year) and enforcer.

11) CBs had good games.

12) Whoever had the idea or did the research to have them show up the day before deserves a raise.

13) The first Verse sack set the tone for the game. That was deeply satisfying.

14) Mumpfield TD of course …

15) I like it when we set the records, 5 TDs for Matt.

16) We were no where near as predictable.

The Bad

17) Thought they’d get Whit to Tutu some extra targets.

18) Higbee had a couple drops of what I thought were perfect passes.

19) Special teams needs a reboot during the bye.

20) The actually gained a decent amount of yards on us.

21) I don’t like breakout games against us, we just jump started Hunter’s career.

College

22) Maiava is my new QB1. Some people sink and some swim with Lincoln Riley. Maiava is settling in … and I say this for a couple reasons. I just watched the ND game (1st half) and besides seeing maybe two of the best throws I’ve seen all year, there was a telling stat. Maiava has been sacked twice this year. Just twice. 1% of drop backs. The USC O line isn’t great. they’re average. That means processing speed is fassssst.
The throw … I had to watch it and pause and play to make sure of what I was seeing. Maiava drops back to immediate pressure, spins and throws what looks like a blind pass … angling towards the sideline far downfield, where a WR is waiting.
While running back and spinning, he knew exactly where someone would be. I paused before the throw, he saw the mid defender come up for the short throw and the medium receiver layered behind him. It was a split second so you know he had to expect where he was, and get confirmation that the mid defender had moved up … he then had the arm strength to throw a 20 yard completion falling backwards.

23) To reassert after the above, Arch is not ready. Kid has ridiculous tools but he needs another year. Lanoris Sellars though may be having legit problems. His processing does not seem to have improved.

24) Edge is such a strong position this year I think we take another high. The 27′ class of WRs is what I’m waiting for unless there’s some inaccurate grading. Like Makai Lemon is a top 20 pick and he’s unremarkable physically so he could slide.

25) The RB class has had some key additions making it strong again, which really only matters for a couple teams and fantasy football. Love and Price may be the best duo I’ve seen.

26) CBs are really good this year, though I keep forgetting to make lists of them. I’ll do that sometime this month.
