Multiple Dallas Cowboys players have taken to social media to share reactions to the tragic passing of teammate Marshawn Kneeland.
The Cowboys confirmed the death of the 24-year-old defensive end via their official website on Thursday morning.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said in a statement. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
Since then, several players have shared tributes via Instagram, including linebacker Kenneth Murphy and tight end Jake Ferguson.
“Fly high brother,” Murphy wrote on his IG Story, adding a heartbroken emoji.
Ferguson wrote, “Love You Brother,” along with three black heart emojis.

Wide receivers Ryan Flournoy and KaVontae Turpin also shared posts following Kneeland’s death.
“Rest easy brother, love you,” Flournoy said, with Turpin sharing, “Love you kid.”

Fellow defensive end Sam Williams was among the players to share a tribute via IG, writing “#LLYOU.”
Micah Parsons, now with the Green Bay Packers following a trade earlier this year, also reacted to the death of his former teammate.
“I’m sorry lil brother, I hope you find peace,” the All-Pro rusher wrote.

Marshawn Kneeland Reportedly Took His Own Life

Texas authorities have since revealed the player’s cause of death, reporting he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a chase with troopers in Dallas.
Kneeland played for the Cowboys on Monday and secured a blocked punt in the end zone against the Arizona Cardinals for the first touchdown of his career.
A second-pick in 2024, the former Western Michigan star had made 18 appearances for the NFC East outfit.
His death adds to a series of NFL-related deaths over the past week.
Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley played two days after losing his older brother to gun violence on Friday, while New England Patriots wide receiver DeMario Douglas had a breakout game in Week 9, less than 24 hours after his uncle was shot and killed.
