The NFL community is in mourning following the shocking news of Marshawn Kneeland’s passing on Thursday morning.
The defensive end, who scored his first career touchdown just three days ago, has sadly passed away under tragic circumstances, according to the team’s official website.
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” a statement from the Cowboys reads. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”
The 24-year-old’s final tweets have resurfaced since the devastating news.
Kneeland hadn’t been active on X and hadn’t shared any tweets this year. However, two of them from 2024 have been circulating on the platform.
One of them is a repost of a coach’s photo showing players posing in front of a house.

Marshawn Kneeland Had Developed Into An Important Player For The Cowboys

Marshawn Kneeland, only 24, was in his second season with the Cowboys. As mentioned above, he scored the first touchdown of his career on Monday, when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone against the Arizona Cardinals.
Kneeland was the 56th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, having completed his college career at Western Michigan. He missed six games during his rookie season due to injury, playing 11 and starting in one of them.
He appeared in seven games for Dallas this season, registering 15 tackles, six QB pressures, and a sack.
Our hearts go out to his family during this challenging time.
May he rest in peace.
