Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson were highly critical of Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski for snubbing Shedeur Sanders after his starting debut on Sunday.

Sanders led the Browns to a 24-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the team’s first rookie quarterback to win on his debut since 1995, registering 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 11-of-20 passing.

He also made a 50-yard completion to highlight his throwing talent.

Such an outing was undoubtedly deserving of high praise – even the President of the United States offered a compliment – yet Stefanski was conservative in lauding the QB.

“Another rookie making his first start, nice job, Shedeur,” he said while speaking to his players in the locker room after the win, drawing criticism from fans online

He would also hand the game ball to Myles Garrett, who made three sacks during the contest.

Sharpe and Ochocinco discussed Stefanski’s treatment of Sanders on their ‘Nightcap’ podcast on Sunday night, ripping the head coach.

“So hold on, this is a guy making his first start, a guy you didn’t even want in your organization. And that’s all he gets, ‘Great job, Shedeur’? He don’t get no game ball?” Sharpe asked.

“He don’t get no game ball, Unc,” Johnson replied. “That’s not his pick; that’s not what they want. They don’t want him to succeed. You know that.”

“It’s clear as day,” he added.

Meanwhile, Stefanski has refused to commit to Shedeur moving forward, telling reporters he will not make a quick decision.

“I’m not going to get into that,” he said. “Obviously proud of him, proud of this offense. There are a ton of things to learn from, but I’m just going to worry about today. I’m always going to take my time and do what’s best for the football team.”

The Browns will play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. Their choice at QB is apparently still up in the air.
