Concerning footage of Daniel Jones showing the Indianapolis Colts quarterback moving a bit gingerly in practice has surfaced online amid reports of a serious injury.

Jones and the Colts are having an unexpectedly solid first season together, though they let a not-so-negligible lead slip against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. Much maligned in New York before a brief stop in Minnesota, Jones has reignited his career in Indy, with the team expected to contend this year at 8-3 after 11 games.

On a more unfortunate note, Jones, who went viral for his bloody mouth earlier in the season, is dealing with something more sinister at the moment.

The former Duke Blue Devils standout hit the injury report with a fibula injury last week and, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, will be struggling with it for a while.

According to Rapoport, Jones has a fracture in the bone, though he plans to play through it and is expected to face the Houston Texans on Sunday.

A clip of Jones dropping back in practice has been posted online, showing him moving somewhat uncomfortably.

“Even the two backups are concerned watching Daniel Jones drop back. He doesn’t look comfortable, clearly the fibula injury is bothering him,” sports doctor Jeff Mueller noted. “If it’s a fracture, it’s likely very small (avulsion?) otherwise he would be out.”

Daniel Jones was limited in practice on Wednesday but was expected to be a full participant on Thursday.

James Boyd of The Athletic, who initially shared the clip, said the signal-caller did not take all of the reps while the media was able to drop in on practice and didn’t “look as fluid or fast as normal” during drills.

Jones claims to be unaware of the exact moment the injury occurred.
