The Cincinnati Bengals’ Thanksgiving trip didn’t really turn out to be all sweet and stuff. One moment, they were prepping for a routine flight, and the next, it felt like their travel day was melting away on the runway. Having announced a shocking injury update on Joe Burrow, Cincy was already walking into Baltimore with the stakes cranked all the way up for an AFC North clash.

On November 27, insider Charlie Clifford reported that Cincinnati’s flight out of CVG got hit with major trouble, setting the team back 5.5 hours. The Bengals didn’t disclose the cause, but it forced them to switch aircraft and move to a smaller commercial plane just to get off the ground.

“Per source, the Bengals were delayed in Cincinnati and are not due to land in Baltimore until just before midnight – 5.5 hours behind schedule,” Clifford’s tweet read.

They finally lifted off around 10:30 p.m., landing close to midnight and reaching the team hotel at 12:30 a.m. EST. It wasn’t their first scare, though. Back in December 2022, the team dealt with an emergency landing due to engine trouble.

And if that wasn’t enough history, their Nov. 16, 2023, game in Baltimore had two separate delays from a drone hovering over the stadium.

Cincinnati’s stepping into Week 13 with quite a lot of tension. The team’s playoff path ain’t closed, but the margin for error is razor-thin. Plus, the conference landscape only adds heat. The Bengals sit in a crowded AFC field, surrounded by teams piling up wins while they try to claw back ground.

As of Nov. 27, Cincy faces an important run that starts with the Ravens this week. The Bengals have two games against AFC North leaders in the next three weeks, giving them a chance to build a 5-1 division record if they sweep and beat Cleveland in Week 18.

They technically remain alive in the Wild Card race, though they trail the 7-seed Bills by four games. The mission is clear: survive the Baltimore-Buffalo-Baltimore stretch, climb to 6-8, and set up a final push against Miami, Arizona, and Cleveland – teams with a combined 10-23 record.
