The slumping Philadelphia Eagles announced a concerning injury update on star defensive tackle Jalen Carter ahead of their pivotal ‘Monday Night Football’ clash with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jalen Carter underwent a procedure on both his shoulders and will miss the Week 14 game against the Bolts at SoFi Stadium. Schefter added that Carter is “week-to-week”, but wanted to get as healthy as possible for the postseason.

The Eagles are coming off an embarrassing 24-15 home loss on Black Friday to the Chicago Bears. The offense was booed throughout the game by the increasingly frustrated Philadelphia fanbase. Afterward, some gutless fans vandalized the home of Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

An Eagles loss and a Dallas Cowboys win over the Detroit Lions this week would shrink Philly’s lead on the NFC East to half a game. Now, they have to try and get by the pesky Bolts without Carter.

Jalen Carter’s Injury Is Another Frustrating Blow To The Eagles

It’s been a bonkers season full of bizarre mishaps and incidents for the defending Super Bowl champions. Jalen Carter was ejected moments into the season opener for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Additionally, multiple reports indicate a fractured relationship between quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown. Both are having terrible seasons for their standards, less than a year after leading Philadelphia to a Super Bowl 59 triumph.

Like the offense, Philadelphia’s defense has unexpectedly regressed considerably this year. Carter has a disappointing Pro Football Focus grade of 60.8, which ranks 55th among 129 interior defensive linemen.

Still, no other Eagles defensive player is capable of single-handedly taking over a game like Carter. His absence leaves a significant void for the run defense, and the other linemen must step up while he’s out.
