Amid a nightmare 2025 season for the Minnesota Vikings, some wonder if growing frustrations for wide receiver Justin Jefferson will culminate in a trade request.

Justin Jefferson couldn’t hide his unhappiness with J.J. McCarthy during the Vikings’ Nov. 16 loss at home to the Chicago Bears. McCarthy’s accuracy was off in that game, and Jefferson had a not-so-great day for his standards with five catches for 61 yards.

Jefferson declined to speak to reporters after the Vikings were shut out 26-0 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Max Brosmer, making his first NFL start, threw four interceptions and only connected twice with Jefferson for four yards.

During an appearance on “Get Up”, ESPN’s Adam Schefter addressed the increasing Jefferson trade rumors.

Schefter doesn’t see a trade happening, though the insider noted that he didn’t think the Dallas Cowboys would trade Micah Parsons. Sure enough, Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers:

“They’re gonna speak to him, I’m sure, at some point…and get some feedback and input as to the player that he would want. It’s hard to imagine that they would trade Justin Jefferson. But then again, a year ago, I would have said it’s hard to imagine the Dallas Cowboys would trade Micah Parsons. And they did.

I still don’t think they’re trading Justin Jefferson. I think he’s clearly miffed and disappointed and bewildered….but I don’t think it’s going to change much.”

From Odell Beckham Jr. to Tyreek Hill to D.K. Metcalf to Stefon Diggs (X2) to Davante Adams (X2), we’ve recently seen plenty of big-name star receivers get traded in their prime. For all we know, it’s only a matter of time until Jefferson joins that list.

Justin Jefferson Is Having The Worst Statistical Season Of His Career

Jefferson isn’t posting the eye-popping stats we’re accustomed to, but it’s not his fault at all. Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosmer leave a lot to be desired as far as a quarterback room goes.

Barring a lights-out finish to the season, Jefferson will finish with career lows in receptions and receiving yards per game. Per Pro Football Reference, he has 62 receptions for 799 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.

The Vikings were all-in on McCarthy from day one, but they have no choice. The front office has to bring in another quarterback to challenge him for the starting QB job next year.
