NFL Fans Are All Making The Same Complaint About The League’s Controversial Holiday Schedule

The NFL may soon expand its grip on the holiday calendar. After this year’s Black Friday game between the Eagles and Bears was great, which was aired on Amazon Prime. The league planning for something bigger and better it seems.
Commissioner Roger Goodell hinted that the league is open to scheduling a second Black Friday game. Goodell told the Wall Street Journal, “We’re going to look at everything, I would expect there will be changes going forward.”
Some fans like the idea, but many feel the NFL is taking over every holiday. The league already dominates Thanksgiving and now plays on Christmas. Adding another Black Friday game feels like too much for all.
This year’s Bears win in Philadelphia brought plenty of excitement. Caleb Williams and first-year coach Ben Johnson delivered a big upset and kept Chicago trending upward. The strong reaction to the game caught the league’s attention, but fans still aren’t convinced that more holiday football is what they want.
Fans Push Back On NFL’s Expansion Talk

Many fans voiced their concerns once Goodell hinted at change.
One fan said the move could hurt long-running high school events. “One thing I would push back on, is that at least in IL and IA, our State Championship games are on Black Friday. These are usually located in one location, and broadcasted over the course of the day. Saying “people can just attend their local HS game” isn’t exactly true,” the fan wrote.

Another fan said the NFL should slow down.
“I love football, but I am old school. Some of us have other stuff going on. I rather just have Sunday and Monday with the occasional Thursday night treat,” the fan said. He liked the late-season Saturday games but felt the league had already packed the schedule.

A third fan said the league overloads viewers.
“Enough with the games it’s over saturated ur gonna make Thursday and Monday games pointless to even care about,” the fan wrote.

Some fans accused Goodell of chasing profit.
“Goodell’s dream is games every day (which can each be its own lucrative TV package) and a basically year round schedule,” one fan said.

The NFL doesn’t care if the games are good. They only care that they’re played so people will watch and they can all make even more money.

A lot is changing in the NFL right now. Just a few days ago, the league said that every game in 2026 will use a special-edition football.
Teams already have the new footballs. Each one has the America 250 logo and will make its first appearance in Week 18 on January 3 and 4. They will also be used in Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara and throughout the entire 2026 season.
Now the league has to decide how much it wants to expand holiday football. Fans have made their opinion clear. Now, the NFL will soon decide if it wants to test them.
