After an exhausting three-week search, police have the suspect wanted in the shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd in custody.
In the early hours of Nov. 16, Kris Boyd was shot outside of a Manhattan restaurant during an altercation. He was rushed to the hospital and listed in critical condition, but has made significant progress in his recovery and even visited his teammates on Wednesday.
While Boyd has thankfully made a strong recovery, another positive update has emerged on this case: The suspect wanted in the shooting has finally been caught.
According to the New York Post, US Marshals arrested a 20-year-old man at a Buffalo apartment complex on Monday. The suspect’s name hasn’t been released, but the Post adds that his record shows four previous offenses:
“The person of interest has four prior busts on his record – but most are sealed, including raps from earlier this year for unlawful possession of personal identification and criminal possession of a controlled substance, sources said.
He was arrested as an adolescent offender in 2024 for reckless endangerment, and had a sealed juvenile arrest in 2018 for robbery, the sources said.”
Authorities released video footage of the suspect days after the shooting. It’s unclear if law enforcement identified the suspect on their own or if public tips helped them catch him. More details should be released soon.
Kris Boyd Signed With The Jets After Two Seasons With The Houston Texans

Boyd was a standout cornerback for the Texas Longhorns before turning pro. He earned Second-team All-Big 12 and First-team All-Big 12 selections in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Kris Boyd in the seventh round (217th overall) in 2019. He has spent most of his career on special teams units, but saw considerable playing time for the Vikings as a cornerback as well.
Boyd joined the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 after four seasons with the Vikings. He landed with Houston late that year and emerged as a key contributor on their special teams, helping the Texans to consecutive AFC South division crowns.
The New York Jets signed Kris Boyd to bolster their special teams unit in March. Unfortunately, he was placed on the season-ending injured reserve in August with a shoulder injury.
