NFL fans are concerned that Joe Burrow is broken after his disheartening press conference on Wednesday.

Joe Burrow missed nine games after suffering a turf toe injury in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was Burrow’s second significant injury in six years, as he suffered season-ending knee and wrist injuries in 2020 and 2023, respectively.

The Bengals went 1-8 in games without Burrow. A surprise midseason trade for Joe Flacco did nothing to change their fortuns. But he’s 3-1 in his four starts, and it should be 4.0. Unfortunately, his defense hardly showed up in a 39-34 road loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Joe Burrow stressed that he has “to have fun” if he’s going to continue playing football. Burrow acknowledged that he has “a lot of things going on” per The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr.:

“If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing this. I have been through a lot. If it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for? That is the mindset I am trying to bring to the table. There are just a lot of things going on right now. A lot of things going on.”

Burrow answered, “all of the above,” when asked if his struggles were related to football or his personal life.

Football fans expressed concern about the Bengals’ star signal-caller following his honest and emotional press conference.

“lol we’re about to fumble the best thing this organization has ever had,” a fan wrote.

“They are going to turn him into Carson Palmer 2.0. I hate this ownership so much,” said another.

“😬😬😬 80% of this press conference is pretty concerning. Also what happened in the beginning? Did he actually leave and have to come back?” asked a user.

“Get off that poverty franchise buddy that’s the only way you will have fun,” a fan quipped.

“Joe Burrow’s honesty shows the pressure athletes face. Hoping he finds the joy in the game that makes him unstoppable,” said a user.

“Hopefully he gets through it,” wrote another.

The Bengals host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at 1:00 p.m EST.

Bengals Can’t Waste Anymore Of Joe Burrow’s Prime

In his first two healthy seasons, Burrow led the Bengals to consecutive AFC Championship Games and a trip to Super Bowl 56. But a terrible offensive line, a woeful defense and the lack of a capable backup QB option have set this franchise way back.

It’s unbelievable that the Bengals missed the playoffs last year. Burrow finished as the NFL’s passing yards and passing touchdowns leader. Ja’Marr Chase won the triple crown of receiving. Trey Hendrickson led the league in sacks.

The Bengals will risk losing Burrow to retirement or a trade if they waste more of his prime. Owner Mike Brown and de facto GM Duke Tobin must spend the necessary money to upgrade this roster.
