The NFL internet world is never short of wild ideas that would never happen in a million years. However, some people miss Tom Brady so much that they can’t help but dream up ridiculous scenarios involving his return to football.

Last week, the Indianapolis Colts stunned everybody by bringing Philip Rivers out of retirement. The 44-year-old, who hadn’t played an NFL snap in five years, started Sunday’s Week 15 road game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaking to Colin Cowherd last week, Tom Brady claimed that he could return and still play quarterback in the NFL. Brady noted, however, that he’s not allowed to play ever again as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs lost quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the season with a torn ACL. At 30 years old, Mahomes’ career is far from over. But some fans couldn’t help but throw out the outrageous idea of Kansas City luring Brady out of retirement to replace Mahomes:

“Brady already holds several NFL records: why not one more?” another asked.

“Tom Brady coming back next season to the Chiefs for 1 year lol,” said a fan.

As Shooter McGavin said in Happy Gilmore, “Yeah, right. And Grizzly Adams had a beard.”

Keep on dreaming, Brady fans. He’s obviously content in retirement, having secured a $375 million deal at Fox and a significant ownership stake in one of the NFL’s most valuable franchises.

Tom Brady’s Chance To Un-Retire Has Long Passed

Brady’s initial retirement in February 2022 lasted only 40 days. When he retired “for good” a year later, it was easy to be skeptical. But if the seven-time Super Bowl champion were serious about returning to football, it had to happen in 2023 or before the start of the 2024 season.

Yes, Brady could have probably continued to play at a high level. He lifted a deeply flawed Tampa Bay Buccaneers team to the NFC South division crown in 2022. But his status as part-owner of the Raiders bans him from playing again. Fans just have to accept that.

And as fun as it would be to watch Brady try and play at age 48? Really, what are the odds of him actually playing at a reasonable level?
