Former Carolina Panthers star linebacker Luke Kuechly certainly made the most of his brief television time on Monday night.

ESPN aired the Indianapolis Colts’ home game against the San Francisco 49ers on ‘Monday Night Football.’ For the game, the Worldwide Leader in Sports debuted a data and analytics-filled alt-cast called the “MNF Playbook.”

Luke Kuechly, who spent his entire eight-year career with the Carolina Panthers, appeared on the new alt-cast. And he certainly didn’t need long to make a good impression.

With just under four minutes remaining, Philip Rivers and the Colts needed a touchdown to keep the game going. As Rivers was calling out a play, Luke Kuechly correctly called Tyler Warren’s route for the Colts.

Dee Winter jumped the route and intercepted the ball for a game-sealing pick-six. Indeed, Kuechly had been all over it:

Some of the highest-paid NFL analysts like Tom Brady, Troy Aikman, and Tony Romo have received immense backlash over their performances in the booth this year. Maybe other networks will consider giving Luke Kuechly a look after his short-and-sweet appearance on “MNF Playbook.”

Kuechly surprised everyone when he announced his retirement at the age of 28 in 2020, due to concerns about the multiple concussions he had suffered in his football career.

Despite playing just eight NFL seasons, Kuechly built a remarkable resume. This was highlighted by 2012 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors.

He was named to seven Pro Bowls and earned five First-team All-Pro selections. Kuechly helped Carolina to a Super Bowl 50 appearance and recorded 1,092 tackles, 18 interceptions, 66 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and 12.5 sacks, per Pro Football Reference.

Kuechly wasn’t inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. But he’ll undoubtedly get inducted in the not-so-distant future. Perhaps as soon as 2026.
