One NFL Fanbase Pointing Fingers At President Trump for Their Team’s Total Meltdown—Is He Really the Curse Behind the Epic Fail?!

The Detroit Lions began the 2025 season with lofty Super Bowl aspirations. After two strong years, fans expected another deep playoff run. Instead, the season ended early. On Thursday, Detroit was officially eliminated from the playoff race, and with that, frustration was evident among fans.
Head coach Dan Campbell shared his disappointment after the loss. He spoke after the elimination.
“I’m going to be looking at a lot,” Campbell said.“I’m going to be looking at a lot of things because I do not like being home for the playoffs. And I know our guys don’t either. And there again, whenever you lose, it takes a village. Everybody’s involved, including myself. So, I’m always going to look at myself first.”
Not long ago, the Lions were close to something special. They reached the NFC Championship in 2023 and held a lead before losing to the 49ers. The following season, they finished 15-2 but lost in the Divisional Round. Those runs raised expectations. This season did not meet expectations.
Detroit also underwent significant changes before the year began. The team lost both coordinators, Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, who went on to become head coaches elsewhere. Replacing them proved difficult. The offense struggled to find consistency, and the defense broke down late in games. Those problems showed up in the results.
Fans Blame Donald Trump

Some fans searched for a stranger reason behind the collapse. They pointed to a moment from Week 9. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown celebrated a touchdown against Washington with a “Trump Dance.”
The Donald Trump dance move was not well-received by many. St. Brown later addressed it on his podcast. “If I offended anyone, I do apologize,” he said. “If any President was at that game, if they had a dance, I would have done it.”
After that game, the Lions went 2-5. And at the same game, fans at the stadium booed President Trump while he was present. Now, social media is full of jokes, frustration, and angry reactions from fans.

The comments spread fast, but facts tell a simpler story. Coaching turnover hurt the team. Injuries and close losses added pressure. No celebration caused the collapse.
Detroit now turns to the future. The Lions hold the No. 16 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Campbell plans to review every decision.
