Patriots WR Stefon Diggs is facing some nasty charges this week. The New England star has been hit with felony charges of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of assault. It stems from an incident at the beginning of this month.
The alleged incident occurred on Dec. 2, which came one day after the Patriots defeated the Giants on Monday Night Football. Diggs had three catches for 26 yards in that game.
Stefon Diggs’ attorney, Michael DiStefano, made a remote appearance in Dedham District Court on Tuesday. He is seeking to have the police report impounded, arguing that the details should remain sealed. DiStefano added that Diggs has made a financial offer to resolve the dispute with the alleged victim in this case.
Patriots Speak Out on Stefon Diggs’ Charges

The Patriots released the following statement regarding Diggs. “The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,” they said.
“Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

The veteran wide receiver is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, January 23. Should the Patriots continue to win, they will be two days before the AFC Championship game. The judge has agreed to consider a request to extend Diggs’ arraignment date to March, per Fox.
A lot has been going on with Diggs in 2025. Stefon Diggs and his girlfriend, rap star Cardi B, welcomed a baby boy in November. The month before, Diggs was facing serious allegations from his ex-girlfriend, Mulan Hernandez. She claimed Diggs physically attacked her during their brief relationship in 2024.
In 17 games this season, Diggs has racked up 82 receptions, 970 yards, and four touchdowns.
Heading into Week 18, the 13-3 Patriots still have a chance at the No. 1 seed in the AFC. This distraction does not help things.
