Football fans are ripping on the NFL after completely screwing the San Francisco 49ers, hours after their thrilling comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round.

Despite losing All-Pro tight end George Kittle for the season with a torn Achilles, the banged-up San Francisco 49ers gutted out a 23-19 victory over the defending Super Bowl champions. The 49ers will now travel to Emerald City to take on the archrival and top-seeded Seattle Seahawks.

Sunday’s action ended with the New England Patriots defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round. After that game, the NFL announced the Divisional Round schedule (times to be announced).

Interestingly, the NFL has scheduled the Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers game for Saturday. That means a short week for the 49ers. The Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams each get an additional day off, having played on Saturday.

Fans called out the NFL for screwing over the San Francisco 49ers with its Divisional Round schedule decision.

“It’s dumb. Both teams played Saturday, so Saturday would make sense,” a fan said.

“wtf is this schedule. It’s not difficult to give all the teams equal amount of rest,” a user said.

“49ers getting screwed on the NFL playoff schedule Seahawks coming off a bye while Niners draw a short week of rest playing Saturday with just 5 days off,” a fan remarked.

“49ers are getting screwed and I’m not a 49ers fan LOL,” another said.

“Bills and 49ers both get screwed with short weeks while facing teams coming off byes. I get it’s all about ratings but sucks all the same for them,” a user added.

“Insane rest advantage for Seattle. Why would Bears/Rams not be on Saturday ☠️,” a fan stated.

Per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he hoped for a Saturday game.

The 49ers would have locked up the NFC’s top seed if they had defeated Seattle in Week 18. However, the Seahawks came into San Francisco and made easy work of the 49ers, cruising to a 13-3 win.

San Francisco and Seattle have split the last four meetings, with the road team winning each time. In that regard, history favors the 49ers. But for what it’s worth, Seattle has only lost a single home playoff game since 2005.

The Seahawks have home advantage and a much healthier roster. Kyle Shanahan has won his last four meetings against the Seahawks at Lumen Field, though. Something has to give in this one.
