Chicago will be very cold Sunday night when the Bears host the Los Angeles Rams in an NFC Divisional Round playoff game. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at Soldier Field, and NBC will carry the game.

Officials expect freezing temperatures across the city all day. It will stay in the teens and may get even colder by the game starts. The Bears are warning fans to dress for the weather before heading to the NFL stadium.

The team sent out a safety message Sunday morning. They advise fans to stay warm, take care of their health, and plan ahead. Stadium crews kept getting the venue ready as the cold settled over Chicago. Earlier, the Bears vs. Packers NFL playoff game also faced similar bad weather.

“With frigid weather conditions expected across Chicagoland this weekend and around game time, the Chicago Bears are advising fans to plan ahead for the Divisional Round home game against the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field on Sunday, Jan. 18,” the team said in a statement.

The Bears also stressed coordination with city officials. “Working closely with the Chicago Park District, the Chicago Bears are implementing enhanced game day measures designed to prioritize fan safety while preserving an exciting game day experience.”

The Bears shared tips to help fans stay warm during the cold-weather game. The team will open several warming areas inside the stadium. Fans can find them near Section 146, by the southwest tunnel near the Dr Pepper Patio, near Gate 31, and along the south side of the stadium.

Fans are allowed to bring battery-powered heated clothing, but security may check those items more closely. The team will not allow cardboard to sit or stand on for safety reasons.

The Bears also warned that cold weather can still cause dehydration. Fans are encouraged to drink water during the game. Hot chocolate and coffee will be available throughout the stadium, and some stands will sell chili. In-seat vendors will also offer hot drinks.

Hand warmers will be sold at all Bears Pro Shop locations inside Soldier Field. Fans can bring blankets into the stadium by hand or inside approved clear bags.

So, just a reminder for fans, stay warm.
