John Harbaugh hasn’t been the head coach of the New York Giants for five minutes. However he’s already attempted to implement a name change.
The Giants unveiled Harbaugh as their new coach on Tuesday.
As you might imagine, he has also secured a pretty significant salary.
“I’m excited to begin assembling our staff and getting to work building our team. I would like to sincerely thank Steve Bisciotti and the Baltimore Ravens organization for 18 remarkable years, including the opportunity to become a head coach in the National Football League,” Harbaugh said in his first press conference.
The 63-year-old also referred to the team as the “New York Football Giants” while addressing reporters.
“It’s a profound honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the New York Football Giants,” Harbaugh said. “My dad taught me that they were the New York Football Giants, they weren’t just the Giants, they were the New York Football Giants all the way back.”
John Harbaugh Comes In With Quite The CV

Harbaugh joins the Football Giants as the coach with the 14th most wins in NFL history. He also led the Baltimore Ravens to 12 playoff appearances in his 18 seasons as head coach. They appeared in four AFC Championship Games and won a Super Bowl under his tenure.
Giants chairman Steve Tisch said, “John is a proven winner whose teams are disciplined, resilient.
“His passion for the game, his ability to connect with players, and his experience leading at the highest level made him an outstanding fit for us, and we’re excited to move forward together.”
The Ravens fired Harbaugh after they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a do-or-die Week 18 showdown. According to reports, a rift with quarterback Lamar Jackson played a part.
As a result, he immediately became the most attractive coaching candidate, and the Football Giants wasted no time making their play.
