The NFL has responded to the viral claims regarding Super Bowl 60 and the possibility of it being rigged.

It would seem that the league showed everyone the script at the beginning of the season. However, no one realized until recently.

With the conference championships done, everything is set for February 8. The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will square off in what could be a memorable clash. Still, one of the head coaches may be keen on losing, according to something he said several years ago.

Anyhow, the NFL’s graphic shared back in early September resurfaced after Sunday’s action. The piece, shown below, has Drake Maye and Sam Darnold next to each other, and they’re also ahead of everyone else.

Folks couldn’t possibly have known that these two quarterbacks would face each other in the Super Bowl several months later. Yet here we are.

As a result, there were widespread accusations that the league had rigged the entire season to set up a date between the teams.

There’s always one theory or another when it comes to the Super Bowl. The colors on the graphic have always been reliable indicators of the teams that would ultimately compete.

That was not the case this season, though what we did get was even more telling. The very quarterbacks set to go head-to-head for the Lombardi are the ones closest to it in the image.

The NFL wasted no time pouring cold water on the suggestions after the Super Bowl contestants were confirmed.

Brian McCarthy of the league office shared brief pushback.

“Re: the ‘controversy’ over this image – no,” he wrote.

Of course, he would understand how folks would think that.

The NFL has consistently applied humor to its denials. This latest bit was right in line.
