New Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the strong message Baker Mayfield sent him on social media. The veteran quarterback didn’t hide his feelings about his former coach on X.
While disputing a report that said Stefanski dealt with a “dumpster fire” at quarterback, Mayfield sent a message to his former coach, calling him out for never reaching out after he was traded to the Carolina Panthers.
“Failed is quite the reach pal,” Mayfield wrote. “Still waiting on a text/call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can’t wait to see you twice a year, Coach.”
Mayfield’s attack drew a lot of responses, including from Browns legend Joe Thomas, who told Mayfield he could have been the first to get in touch with Stefanski. Now, the coach has broken his silence.

Kevin Stefanski responded to Baker Mayfield’s jab on Tuesday, taking the high road and saying that the rivalry between the Falcons and Buccaneers will benefit from anything.
“Baker’s somebody that I have a ton of respect for as a player and a person,” Stefanski said, via Maura Carey. “I love rivalries in sports, and obviously, Buccaneers-Falcons have a great rivalry. It’s something that I’m excited about. But I would not get into the specifics of those type of things, other than to say I have a ton of respect for Baker as a player, as a person, that’s a great team with a great player.”

Stefanski replaced Raheem Morris, who was fired after two seasons with the Falcons. His tenure started with controversy, as Mayfield attacked him first and then Jemele Hill said he Falcons fans would resist him after his time with Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland.
